Island Revolution

Branding / Graphic Design

A new event for 2019, organisers wanted to target clients from the more remote regions of Scotland who find it difficult to attend other showcasing events and wanted Island Revolution to make a lasting impression on attendees. I was brought in at the beginning of discussions to establish ideas for the branding, creating a short brief “Colourful, tartan and rivals Evolution (another event held by the company)”.

Worried that the tartan could come across as too stereotypical I looked at unique ways to split the cover to give more wow factor. Cutting the elements into jagged triangular segments allowed the colours to contrast seamlessly, images to jump out and offered a interesting way to arrange the event title. For the inside pages I wanted to keep the branding present throughout but less overpowering, using tartan strips to draw attention to the featured products. Also creating a fun map of Scotland to accompany the Whisky section, using different colours to highlight the various Whisky regions would allow attendees to place the origin of the Whiskies showcased.

Materials for the event included an invite and companion book. The design was highly praised by attendees, event organisers and sales reps, also getting praise among the executives of the company.
