UX Challenges

Scenario:
You are a UX designer for a large car rental corporation. Usability tests and analytics have indicated that users are having a hard time navigating around the website. You are tasked with taking a fresh look at the navigation plan and general structure of the website.
Task:
Gather content and pages from a real car rental company's website to get ideas for what is on a site like this. Examples include budget.comthrifty.comenterprise.comavis.com, and hertz.com.
Build a sitemap for your fictional employer's website. You may want to use other skills like card sorting or tree testing to complete this challenge.
Solution:
As a starting point for this challenge I took some time to go through thrifty.com site and identify areas I felt could cause some usability issues. There appeared to be some essential information tucked away on the site but to avoid building my solution on assumptions, I decided to do a tree test with a handful of participants to identify usability issues.
I used UX Tweak to perform the Tree Test, inputting the site's structure and creating three tasks, all involved the user finding basic information on the site.
Across all three tasks there was a 12.5% success rate when it came to directness and only a 37.5% indirect success rate meaning the User's were unsure where to find this information on the site. Analysing the tasks individually had a vary degree of success rate, Tasks 1 and 3 had an average of 12.5% indirect success rate with Task 2 having a 75% indirect success rate.
After analysing the results of the tree testing sessions I began constructing my site map for thirfty.com, taking into account the data provided from the tree testing to make changes that would benefit the usability of the site. Making minor changes to make the basic information about the company, how to book etc more accessible making use of the site's navigation and footer.
